Context
Cliolab is a dental practice and laboratory with a thirty-year history. The project combines the renewal of clinical and laboratory infrastructure with digital tools and internal processes.
About a year ago, a new chapter began under the Cliolab Plus brand, focused on modernizing operations and supporting growth.
The challenge
The next chapter called for investment in facilities, equipment, and processes. The goal was to improve patient care and turnaround times for both fixed and removable prostheses, supported by better-organized operations.
My contribution
I contribute as CTO and technical lead, focusing on process automation and leading the configuration and maintenance of the company’s internal protocols.
The renewal involves the practice and laboratory team. My contribution centers on connecting technology decisions with operational needs, supporting implementation, and developing the project’s web presence.
The transformation
A new digital dental laboratory
The facilities renewal included a new digital dental laboratory. This has improved workflows and the coordination of deliveries for fixed and removable prostheses.
Two renewed treatment stations
At the practice, two of the three treatment stations were replaced with entirely new models. The update includes equipment, visualization workflows, and intraoral scanners as part of bringing digital tools into patient care.
Processes that support the equipment
My technical work covers process automation and the configuration and maintenance of internal protocols. These changes support the investment in facilities so that renewal also reaches the way the team works.
Website and guidance before contact
The website brings together services, the laboratory, the team, and frequently asked questions, alongside WhatsApp, email, and location links. It includes a demonstration calculator for selecting treatments and exploring indicative amounts, payment options, and a referral discount.
The implemented flow requests a name, phone number, and acknowledgment of the conditions and privacy notice; it saves the inquiry before opening WhatsApp with a prepared message for the user to review and send. The calculator does not provide diagnoses or replace clinical assessment, and its amounts are not a final quote.
Architecture
The case connects three areas: the practice, the laboratory, and internal processes. Introducing digital tools at the practice and renewing the laboratory are parts of the same operational transformation.
The website uses Astro with an interactive React calculator. Its integration with Supabase functions separates calculation and validation rules from inquiry storage; it records the versions of the catalog, conditions, and privacy notice acknowledged with each inquiry.
This development complements technical coordination and internal protocols. Publication requires site approval and configuration of the inquiry services.
Results
- A new digital dental laboratory as part of the facilities renewal.
- Two of the practice’s three treatment stations renewed with new equipment and digital tools.
- Improvements in workflows and the quality of patient care.
- Improvements in turnaround times for fixed and removable prostheses.
- Development of the website and indicative estimate and contact flow, distinct from the practice’s operational results.
Lessons
The project requires coordination across technology, facilities, and patient-care processes. The website implementation also requires a clear distinction between indicative information and clinical assessment, with traceability of the conditions associated with each inquiry.
Next steps
Continue process automation and maintenance of internal protocols, aligning the website’s evolution with the needs of the practice and laboratory.
